South Western House is a Grade II listed building, which was originally built in 1865. It is an historic landmark in the old dockland area of Southampton with some of the most momentous events of modern times. The hotel was acquired by the London and South Western Railway Company in 1871 with the hotel built over the ends of the railway lines. In 1912 many wealthy people stayed here before embarking on the ‘Titanic’
Since then the hotel has been converted into one and two bedrooms apartments and we are fortunate to have eight apartments in this building. Imperial apartments is located in the heart of the city centre and ideally located for whether your stay is for business or leisure. The exact location is opposite the infamous Oxford Street; Oxford Street is home to many restaurants from Chinese, Italian, tapas to French bistros, and it is here that you will also find a selection of wine bars and pubs. A Tesco's Express is close by for your amenities you require throughout your stay and we do offer a selection of different food packs if required which can be ordered up to 48 hours before your arrival date.
This apartment is stunning and has high ceiling's giving it a grand feel as you walk in. Once inside there is a hallway which will lead you to the open plan lounge and kitchen. The lounge has a two seater sofa, a coffee table, tv with freeview and a dvd player and there is a dining table with four chairs where you can relax and eat at your own leisure. The kitchen is fully equipped so you are not governed to hotel timetables, modern cooking utensils and equipment are supplied including pots and pans, microwave, oven/hob and fridge freezer to accommodate you throughout your stay. Plus there is a washing machine and clothes horse to cater for all your laundry needs.
Stairs lead you to the Master Bedroom which has a double, wardrobes and two bed side tables with night lights and an alarm clock. The bedroom overlooks the lounge area and there is a spare pull down double bed so the apartment can sleep up to four people. Bed linen is supplied for your stay and if your stay is longer than 7 day our housekeeping team will clean and change the towels and bed linen. The bathroom has a shower, wash basin and wc; towels and complimentary toiletries are supplied on arrival.
Broadband is free unlike hotels where you have to purchase internet package and one allocated parking space is available with this apartment for a small fee of £5 per night.
Located on England's south coast, Southampton has been a major port since the 13th Century and was home to the RMS Titanic. The Maritime Museum in the Wool House features an exhibition on the ill-fated liner.
The main station in the city is Southampton Central with excellent links to London and other south coast towns and cities. Southampton Airport is located in the town of Eastleigh, just north of Southampton. It is connected to the city by a frequent rail service, and hosts flights to UK and some European destinations.
Southampton harbour is no longer used for car ferries to Europe, but remains the embarkation point for many cruise liners. Sailing is very popular, and Southampton Water has been the start and finish of the Round the World Yacht Race for 30 years.
The main retail facility is the West Quay Shopping Centre, which was the biggest city-centre shopping mall in Europe when it was opened.
The largest green space is Southampton Common which covers a larger area than Hyde Park in London and includes a Wildlife Centre, a swimming pool and several lakes and ponds.
